Farewell

We have spent a lot of time in the Florida Keys. Now, it times to go home. Our favorite things we did were going to see the Nutcracker Key West, beach aquariums, meeting the 95 year-old woman named Jill, and going scuba-diving.  We are really sad to have to leave, but we are coming back next year. Bye!! :(

Florida Keys Poem

 Florida Keys
The Florida Keys have a bright sun,
At the Florida Keys you can have tons of fun,
The soft sand and the ocean tide,
Or the sunset when the sun wants to hide.
Boat rides or the ocean breeze,
Please come the Florida Keys.

Jimmy Buffet

We just visited where Jimmy Buffet lived when he lived in the Florida Keys!! It was so much fun. Jimmy wasn't born in Florida but he lived there for a short while. We also got to go to one of his concerts and he sang Bama Breeze, Oysters and Pearls, Blowing in the Wind, Banana Republics, Trying to Reason with Hurricane Season, Do You Know What It's like to Miss New Orleans, Paradise, Coast of California, The Last Mango in Paris, Lovely Cruise, It's all About Water, Island Forever.  After the concert we bought his albums with all of his songs.

Jill the 95 year old lady

Now we are talking to a 95 year old lady who has lived here all her life. She is telling us some very interesting facts about this place. They have some endangered species of seaturtles here in the Florda Keys, if we're lucky we will get to swim with some. They have very good food here, like key lime pie, the juiciest pineapples, and avacodos.

Some info on John Pennekamp coral reef state park

The park is 70 miles long. Its famous coral reef can be looked at from glass bottom boats. It's in the Atlantic ocean. It is the first underwater park.

The Labor Day Hurricane!!

We just got back from a biography museum and learned something about the disasterious hurricane that hit  the Florida Keys on Labor Day in 1935.  This hurricane was a devistating to several families in Florida. The Labor Day hurricane was the longest storm of 1935, which lasted 13 days.  Which was a verry small storm, on the order of Hurricane Andrew, which also had a similar path. Andrew moved just to the north of the Labor Day Hurricane's track when both storms were near Florida while the Labor Day Hurricane hooked to the north much sooner than Andrew did.

Pictures of Florida Keys

We're Finally Here!!!!!!!*****!!!!!!!!*****

We arrived Thursday morning at 5:30Am. We are so excited. The first time I walked on the beach I saw a coconut on the ground.I tried to crack it opened, like the bear in the movie'' The Jungle Book''.It didn't work out to well. They have such good food here, like key lime pie,  pineapples, and papias . The people here are also nice, we met a few people and they all seemed positive, except one man. His wife was buying a expensive Hawaiian  earrings. I think I'm going to like it here in the Florida Keys, even though at first I was unsure. We're hoping to see a sea turtle. There are some endangered species here.

Save the Sea Turtles!!

SAVE THE SEA TURTLES

Florida has several turtles that are endangered.  Here are two species of turtles that are endangered : Marine turtles and loggerheads, and we need to do our best to save them. Sea Turtles are extraordinary creatures. They have a shell like regular turtles but they have flippers instead of feet.We are hoping to get the chance to swim with them. Mabie even hold one. I hope that somday these amazing creatures will go of the endangered animals list.

On Our Way!!!!

We are an our way to the beautiful Florida Keys!! We are hoping to see the beautiful sunsets and the wonderful beaches.  We also are very excited about learning lots more about the Keys.  We heard  that there are several coral reefs, so we are hoping to go scuba diving.  The good news is that they speak English.  The most important thing we are looking for is the bright warm sunshine.  We are a little worried about the idea of hurricanes.  Last, we want to see the Florida flag waving in the wind. ( the Florida Keys are located at the southeastern tip of the Florida peninsula about fifteen miles south of  Miami, and it extends in gentle arc south-south western and then to Key West. ( Bridge that goes across the islands: The Overseas Highway or the Seven Mile Bridge. (1700 islands in the Florida Keys.)
